How To Obtain Police Records
The Records Department is open 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, except on Town Holidays. Reports cannot always be released per federal and state regulations and guidelines, and it may take up to three working days to process your request.
The fee for Reports is $5.00 for the first 20 pages, $0.25 each subsequent page, payable by cash, personal check or money order. Return payment to: Town of Dillon, PO Box 335, 275 Lake Dillon Dr, Dillon CO 80435. REPORTS ARE NOT PROCESSED UNTIL FEES ARE RECEIVED.
A Request for Public Police Records form must be completed and payment made prior to receiving the report. Please email your completed form to email@example.com. You can print the form and fax (970 513-3343), mail (PO Box 335, Dillon, CO 80435) or walk it into the Police Department (275 Lake Dillon Dr.)
Lost and Found Property
Property that had been found by another citizen and turned into the Dillon Police Department, will be kept for a period of 90 days. If no one claims the found property within this time frame, the Dillon Police Department will place an advertisement in the local newspapers, declaring the list of items to be disposed of if they are not claimed by their rightful owners. If no one claims the property, then it will be disposed of by the Dillon Police Department.
If you have had property taken as evidence, the Dillon Police Department must retain that item(s) as evidence until the case has been disposed of, and the District Attorney’s Office authorizes the release or destruction of that evidence / property. The Dillon Police Department will attempt to contact the owner of property to be released at the last known address or phone number for return. If we are unable to contact the known owner, then that property will be destroyed or otherwise disposed of.
Claiming and picking up property
If you have been contacted by the Dillon Police Department and need to claim your property, please call first to make an appointment. The Evidence Custodian is the only authorized personnel to release property.
