Mission

To provide support to the marina management team and leadership to the marina staff with regard to all marina operations and infrastructure. 

Overview

Performs a variety of duties involved in the daily and seasonal operations of the Dillon Marina. Operates a variety of equipment in the construction, mechanical, repair, maintenance and replacement of Marina owned buildings, grounds, boats, and docks. Assists with all other operations of the marina throughout the season to include but not limited to service, office, and rental.

Dillon Marina Director, Managers, Supervisors and Leads

Qualifications

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Additional coursework from a trade or technical school is preferred.
  • Valid Driver License with an acceptable driving record is required.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid Certification is required. Annual training provided.
  • At least three years of experience operating motorized vehicles & equipment is required.
  • General construction, painting and staining, and basic laborer skills required. 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, office equipment and procedures.  
  • Knowledge of general boat handling, mooring and docking practices applicable to the operation and use of marina facilities is preferred. 
  • Working knowledge of principles, methods, materials and equipment common to marina operations is preferred. 
  • Basic knowledge of welding, plumbing and electrical systems, both 110 and 12 volts.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age. 
  • Must be able to swim.
  • Must be able to communicate with a two-way radio professionally.
  • Must be comfortable with heights.
  • Must be detail orientated, have creative problem-solving skills, have mechanical aptitude and skills, and maintain a positive work attitude when challenged.
  • Ability to speak and understand the English language proficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Performs building, dock, and grounds maintenance.
  • Operates Marina and Town equipment as directed by the Operations Manager. This may include, but is not limited to, trucks, trailers, utility vehicles, tractors, all types of boats, boat hoist, front end loader, backhoe, skid steer and other related heavy equipment. May handle basic maintenance of equipment.
  • Use small tools and equipment to complete projects.
  • Provides preventative equipment maintenance inspections on Town of Dillon / Dillon Marina owned vehicles such as pre/post trips, checking fluids, etc. Reports any problems in a timely manner to the Marina Operations Manager and/or Town of Dillon Public Works Department as appropriate.
  • Works in a team-based environment supporting the marina, the Town of Dillon, and the initiatives of the Director and Managers.
  • Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards. Responsible for the safety of self, others, materials, and equipment.
  • Adheres to Town of Dillon policies, standards, and regulations including but not limited to proper attire, safety procedures, and overall professionalism. 
  • Ability to function and make good decisions in the absence of a supervisor. 
  • Communicates in a professional, courteous, and timely manner both verbally and written when dealing with Town of Dillon Employees, citizens, customers, and vendors.
  • Perform aquatic nuisance species inspections.
  • Provide support to all other marina departments as needed and as assigned by marina management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment/Physical Activities:

  • Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions. 
  • High Risk – Possible contact with various chemicals. Exposure to sun, heat, cold, dust, precipitation, fuel, oil, grease and other conditions and chemicals commonly found in a marine environment. 
  • Must be capable of operating a variety of equipment, hand & power tools normally found in marina operations. Must be capable of safely maneuvering all vehicles, vessels, and equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside-weather conditions.  The individual may work near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.  This position is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and may experience the risk of electrical shock.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate in the office, and moderate to loud while working outside. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate a computer, various pieces of office equipment, tools, and vehicles.
While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.  The individual frequently is required to stand and talk or hear.  This position is occasionally required to walk and run; sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, lay down, crawl; and smell.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 115 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.  The individual must also be able to work under/above/around obstacles. 

Equipment Used:

Motorized vehicles and equipment, common hand and power tools, shovels, wrenches, mobile radio, phone, computer, calculator, and copy/fax machine.
