Job Overview: Plan, direct and oversee all bar operations including managing staff, ensuring product and service standards are met, and implementing and maintaining procedures for maximum operating efficiency.
Hours: This is a summer seasonal, part-time position with hours varying between 20 to 30 hours per week, beginning late May through late September. Must be available to work flexible shifts and days, including late nights and weekends.
Reports To: Events & Recreation Director
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for training, scheduling, evaluating, and supervising bar staff.
- Administer and enforces departmental safety rules, operating procedures, town policies, and regulations for employees and the general public.
- Ensure signage is visible and updated. This includes prominent display of liquor license, minor signs, product availability, digital and printed menus, and sandwich boards indicating additional bar locations.
- Actively engage with beverage manufacturers, distributors and local breweries. Responsible for product ordering, inventory control and product returns. Ensure the appropriate amount of product is on hand for the forecasted demand. Negotiate with vendors to ensure the procurement of product is on the best possible terms.
- Receive and verify all deliveries are checked in, documentation is correct, and invoices are entered and routed properly and in a timely fashion.
- Provide excellent customer service to the public, event attendees, coworkers and partners at all times. This includes having professional interactions with customers, providing accurate information and having general knowledge of the Dillon Amphitheater and Town of Dillon events and happenings.
- Carry out bartender responsibilities, including greeting customers and fulfilling beverage orders, ensuring customers are of legal drinking age, processing cash and credit card transactions and restocking and redistributing products throughout the event.
- Set and monitor quality and service standards for staff.
- Schedule staff accordingly to ensure the demands of the customers are met related to individual events.
- Responsible for the setup, breakdown and maintenance of the concessions areas, which may include, but is not limited to, staging and set up/teardown of tents, stanchions, signage, points of sale, product and coolers, and all related accessories and supplies. Assist with other venue setup and teardown needs as assigned.
- Rotate stock to reduce waste.
- Monitor and order supplies to support bar needs.
- Take inventory of products at regular intervals throughout the season.
- Assist with employee onboarding into POS system and keep POS system up to date with products, descriptions and pricing.
- Update menu boards and screens before each event and ensure all POS systems are up to date and charged.
- Resolve all staff and customer conflicts swiftly and professionally.
- Oversee accurate cash management procedures and ensures necessary paperwork is complete.
- Distribute cash and credit card tips accordingly.
- Facilitate TIPS training for all bar staff.
- Maintain cleanliness of venues before, during and after an event. Ensure all work areas and facilities are clean and safe for participants, guests and staff. This includes picking up, sorting, and moving trash and recycling; and cleaning up messes.
- Supervise bartender crew and delegate daily assignments to ensure efficient execution of each event.
- Ensure all cleaning and hygiene protocols are met. Practices compliance with fire, health, safety, and hygiene standards and regulations.
- Work shifts required to meet the needs of the events schedule. This includes late nights/early mornings, weekends and holidays.
- Operate different types of vehicles, including pickup trucks, utility vehicles and trailers. Unload and load equipment from trucks and vehicles.
- Act as a liaison with venue, ticketing and box office leads.
- Responsible for responding to, communicating, and documenting incidents and emergency situations, including, but not limited to: drunk and disorderly guests, First Aid, severe weather, and missing child events.
- Provide support to all facets of the events and recreation operations as assigned by supervisors.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment/Physical Activities:
- Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Exposure to sun, heat, cold, dust, precipitation, fuel, grease, trash and other conditions and chemicals commonly found in an events and recreation environment.
- Must be capable of operating a variety of equipment, hand and power tools. Must be capable of safely operating and maneuvering vehicles and equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the individual regularly works in outside-weather conditions. The individual frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The individual is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and may experience the risk of electrical shock.
The noise level in the work environment ranges from quiet to very loud. Must be able to work in a loud noise environment for extended periods of time. Must be able to wear a radio earpiece during shifts. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate a computer, draft line, point of sale, various pieces of equipment, tools, and vehicles.
While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The individual frequently is required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The individual is also required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and smell.
The individual must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, preferably unassisted, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Equipment Used: Motorized vehicles and equipment, common hand and power tools, mobile radio, phone, computer, calculator, point of sale and ticketing systems, Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams software, timekeeping and scheduling software, and printer/copy/fax machine.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Exceptional customer service skills required.
- Experience managing a bar or beverage service operation.
- Hospitality or restaurant management experience preferred.
- Knowledge of modern POS systems and an aptitude for technology to be able to troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
- Knowledge of basic accounting procedures.
- A familiarity with Square or other accounting-based software.
- TIPS certified or the ability to be TIPS certified before June 1, 2026.
- Self-motivated, innovative team player with supervisory experience, who can also work well individually.
- Must be detail-oriented and have exceptional organizational skills.
- Must have creative problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to communicate in a professional, courteous and timely manner, both verbally and in writing, when dealing with Town of Dillon employees, citizens, guests, customers, participants and vendors.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with peers, supervisors, vendors, and other departments and agencies.
- Ability to respond to emergencies calmly and efficiently.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to function and make good decisions in the absence of a supervisor.
- Valid driver license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
- Previous manual labor experience preferred.
- Ability to lift, push and pull 50 pounds.
- Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks and assignments and meet deadlines.
- CPR/AED and First Aid Certification are preferred. Training provided.
- Ability to perform manual tasks for extended periods of time.
- Ability to speak and understand the English language proficiently.
- Must have a flexible schedule and willingness to work days, nights, weekends, late hours and holidays.
