The Dillon Keystone Police Department (DKPD), in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service, invites community members to participate in Operation "Fight Fire / Fight Hunger" on Friday, June 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Dillon Keystone Police Department.
Residents are encouraged to help "Stuff the BearCat" by donating non-perishable food items that will benefit local food banks, helping local families in need throughout Summit County.
In addition to supporting the community food drive, attendees will have the opportunity to learn valuable wildfire preparedness and fire prevention information ahead of the summer fire season. Representatives from the U.S. Forest Service will be on site providing educational resources and tips on how residents can make their homes and neighborhoods more wildfire resilient.
A special guest, Smokey Bear, will also be making an appearance to meet community members, share fire safety messages, and help educate families about preventing wildfires.
"Operation Fight Fire / Fight Hunger is a great opportunity for our community to come together to support local families while also learning how we can all play a role in preventing wildfires," said the Dillon Keystone Police Department. "We encourage everyone to stop by, bring a donation, meet Smokey Bear, and learn how to be wildfire ready this summer."
